API Summer Festival 2026
May 31 - June 6 | Phoenix, Arizona
Auditing
🎶
Auditors can listen in on any workshop, masterclass, or recital (ticketed recitals excepted) in the API Summer Festival, with the exception of the API Teachers Forum. We heartily welcome you and we appreciate your support. Your presence enlivens the atmosphere, and the students are very grateful for your attendance as their appreciative audience.
To audit the Summer Festival, day and week rates apply. Please note that teachers of registered students and volunteers receive complimentary auditor passes for any day.
AUDITOR AGE Requirements
Anyone over the age of 18 can audit the Summer Festival for a day or for the week. Auditors are invited to observe, but not participate.
Persons under the age of 18 may audit the Summer Festival if accompanied by an adult while attending the festival. Or they may audit the Summer Festival without an adult with the following understandings:
a) Underage auditors are assigned to a team for the entire day and will accompany that team through all the team’s activities that day. In the morning, the parent/guardian will be asked to park and escort their child to the API Registration Desk. At the end of the day, the parent/guardian will pick up their child at the API Registration Desk. Underage auditors will need to bring their lunch and stay with the assigned team during the lunch period.
b) Underage auditors are expected to comply with the security arrangements of the API Summer Festival, which includes wearing an API Summer Festival badge and always remaining in the company of an API-assigned volunteer or staff person. The parent/guardian will need to complete the required forms for being an auditor before their arrival on the first day.
Auditor Guidelines
All API auditors are requested to follow these festival-wide regulations to help ensure the safety of all students, faculty, staff, and participants.
1. You may attend any master classes and workshops printed on the master schedule for which you have paid a daily or a weekly registration fee. The API Teacher Forum is not available to auditors.
2. You will be asked to register and check in in the lobby of Building M when you arrive on the Phoenix College campus. If you will be in attendance for multiple days during the festival, please check in and check out daily. Name tags will be issued to all auditors and need to be returned to the Registration Desk at the end of the day. Name tags must always be visibly worn during the festival.
3. Please be on time for classes.
4. During any workshop, master class or recital, please refrain from interrupting the faculty or performers.
4. No photography of any type is allowed in classes or workshops.
5. No audio and/or video recording is allowed in classes or workshops.
6. Please turn off all cell phones, pagers etc. upon entering a performance space or classroom.
7. If you must enter or leave a room during the course of a lesson, rehearsal, or discussion, please do so very carefully and quietly, at the direction of an API staff member. Never enter a classroom or performance hall while a performance is in progress. Always wait for an applause break, or for audible conversation or discussion before entering.
8. Auditors may not, under any circumstances, remove any students from any classrooms, leave campus with students during the daily schedule, or accompany students to practice rooms, lavatories, or other areas of the campus.
9. Auditors are to comply with the Arizona Piano Institute Security and Health Policies.
10. Auditors are responsible for bringing or finding their own lunches if they stay over the lunch hour. You have the option of bringing a packed lunch, clearly marked with your name, and have it refrigerated for you until lunch time. Auditors may use the Volunteer Room to eat lunch and take breaks.
Thank you for your understanding and compliance with these important regulations. You are all valued participants. We heartily welcome you and we appreciate your support. Your presence enlivens the atmosphere, and the students are very grateful for your attendance as their appreciative audience.
